If you haven’t already seen what a Drake feature can do for a young artist’s career this is the perfect example. Makonnen is Drake’s newest prodigy hailing from Atlanta, Georgia who has recently gained attention from many notable names such as Miley Cyrus and Mike Will, among others.
Along with the incredibly catchy track comes a seemingly eerie theme. The painted doll head from the cover of the ILOVEMAKONNEN EP is seen throughout the video in the form of masks on women and the object itself being carried around. The reason behind this links back to Makonnen’s days at The Beauty College of America in Forest Park, Georgia where he would draw on his mannequins to differentiate his work from the other student’s. Since then, the doll head has acted as consistent imagery and somewhat of a brand for the artist.
The video is completed with typical club scenes and cityscape shots. Drake, Makonnen, and other OVO affiliates are seen perusing the club while acting as walking billboards for the crew’s TOPSZN merchandise.
